Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a term Instructor in the Public Administration program. The appointment will commence August 27, 2025, and end November 14, 2025 (subject to minimum enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging from $37.55 to $66.37 per hour.

 Duties: The instructor will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the PADM program. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the following course:

  • PADM 201: Municipal Finance in BC (45 instructional hours)
This course will be delivered in an intensive format. Weekend and evening hours may be required

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications require a university degree in Public Administration or similar (MBA preferred), as well as experience with local government, First Nations organizations, and teaching. Additional post-secondary education and training in teaching, (e.g. A provincial Teaching Certificate or a Provincial Instructor’s Diploma is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Require skills, abilities and knowledge includes:

  • Excellent group facilitation, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to create a positive and respectful learning environment for mature adults who may have been out of the classroom for many years
  • Previous experience with course/program development
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) with the demonstrated ability to apply them to teaching
  • Experience teaching with distributed learning formats as well as knowledge with relevant technologies (i.e.: office 365, Brightspace, video/web conferencing, learning management systems, and online resources) is an asset
