Important notice for prospective students

Please note, an official Letter of Acceptance and an approved study permit DO NOT guarantee a seat. Successful first-term course registration, supported by the international advising team, is essential for enrollment. DO NOT make travel arrangements until you are registered for your first-term courses.

Step 1: Complete your program and English proficiency requirements.

The admission requirements for each program vary. Visit our International Program Catalogue, then choose the program that interests you, and select the Admission Requirements tab to review program-specific requirements.

If your program requires an English 12 or First Peoples English 12 or equivalent as part of your program admission requirements, you will need to submit a proof of your English proficiency tests that are accepted by CMTN with a "pass" grading level.


English language-exempted countries

If you completed your senior secondary education in one of the listed countries shown here with a passing grade in English 12 or equivalent, the English proficiency requirement is waived. In other words, you do NOT need to submit an English proficiency test; only your senior secondary certification or result card is required.

 

Step 2: Apply via Education Planner BC.

Apply to your program through the official application portal called Education Planner BC (EPBC). You will be asked to create an account, select the College and program, and pay the application fee ($100 CAD; non-refundable).

Note: If an international education agency (authorized third-party education agency) is helping with your application, be sure to include the company name of the agency in your online application, under the "Educational Representative" column only.

Tip: Keep a record or screenshot of your EPBC application number for tracking and documentation. Your EPBC application number temporarily acts as your tracking number before you are given your official CMTN student number.

Step 3: Submit your supporting documentation.

Unofficial documents are accepted to begin the admissions process. Please email the scanned copies of your supporting documents and transcript, including your EPBC application number, in your email to admissions@coastmountaincollege.ca.

Official transcripts must be mailed in a sealed envelope or faxed from the institution you attended to Coast Mountain College and must include the official seal or signature of that institution. Submitting official transcripts can be done upon arrival in Canada. A notarized translation must accompany any transcripts that are not in English. If you have completed the West African Examination Council Exams, CMTN must be supplied with scratch card information so results may be verified.

Note: CMTN will not return any official documentation submitted.

Step 4: Receive a conditional qualified admission status and pay the tuition deposit.

Once you have met the program requirements, you will be conditionally qualified into the program and must pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of $14,000 CAD. The non-refundable tuition deposit will cover the majority of your program fees for the initial two terms.

Note: The tuition deposit can be fully refunded only if the student's study permit application is refused, with a proof of refusal notice from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

If you apply to a Trades program (ex. West Coast Culinary Program), you are required to pay the full first-year program fee as tuition deposit. The program fee for each Trades program varies; please check your chosen Trades program in the International Program Catalogue.

Your acceptance letter will be sent upon receipt of your deposit payment. $4,000 of your fees are non-refundable unless a study permit is denied. For refunds/deferrals, use this form; refer to step 6 of this page for more details.

A Letter of Acceptance and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) will be sent to your email 15 working days after we receive your tuition deposit payment.

Step 5: Receive your Letter of Acceptance, then apply for a study permit through IRCC.

Once you receive your Letter of Acceptance from CMTN, you must apply online for a Canadian study permit as soon as possible through IRCC. This is to ensure sufficient time to meet the study permit/Letter of Introduction (LOI) deadline set by the CMTN and allows you to start your program on time. A copy of your official CMTN Letter of Acceptance, and not your conditional qualified admission letter, is required for a Canadian study permit application.

Due to the unpredictability of the study application process, you should not make any travel arrangements while waiting for your study permit decision.

Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs)

As of January 22, 2024, most students must include a PAL from the province or territory where they plan to study with their study permit application. Your PAL acts as confirmation that the student has been included in a provincial or territorial allocation within the national cap. To find out if you need a PAL, click here. If you require a PAL, CMTN will send this along with your Letter of Acceptance via email. A copy of your official Letter of Acceptance, Provincial Attestation Letter, and all other documents, are required for a study permit application.


Step 6: What's next after your study permit decision

There are a couple of things that you can do to move forward, based on the decision on your study permit application.

If your study permit application is approved

If your study permit application is denied

You will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction from IRCC. You must send a copy of this document to international@coastmountaincollege.ca and include the words "Study Permit" and your CMTN student number in the subject line. Without a copy of the POE Letter of Introduction, your course registration might be delayed, as this is required to proceed with your first-term course registration.

Note: The POE Letter of Introduction is not your official study permit. You will need to bring a copy of your LOI and present it to Border Services when you enter Canada. Learn more about the LOI and entry to Canada on the official IRCC website.

You will be issued an IRCC rejection letter containing the reasons for your refusal. You have the option to either defer your program intake by completing the Refund/Program Deferral Request Form and submitting it to admissions@coastmountaincollege.ca. You may then reapply for your study permit after obtaining your revised Letter of Acceptance from CMTN.

Alternatively, you can request for a full refund (excluding administrative fees) by filling out the same Refund/Program Deferral Request Form and attaching the IRCC rejection letter.

The processing time for program deferrals and refunds takes up to 15 working days.
