Health and Wellness Centre
The Health and Wellness Centre at Coast Mountain College’s Terrace campus, located in Waap Amgam (House of Cedar), serves as a welcoming hub for student well-being. Home to the Student Engagement Coordinator, Mental Health and Wellness Officer, and Director of Student Health Services, the centre offers both in-person and remote support across campuses.
This space is designed to promote mental, emotional, and physical wellness, featuring calming nooks for reading, coloring, puzzles, games, and meditation. Additionally, there are private virtual consultation rooms for confidential appointments with healthcare providers and mental health professionals.
Available Services
Health and Wellness Alternative Resources
The Student Health Services Team can help connect you with different supports and resources, including community counsellors, virtual counsellors, and online resources. Please visit our Mental Wellness and Counselling webpage, email mentalhealth@coastmountaincollege.ca, or book an appointment with our Director of Student Health Services for more information.
Our student engagement officers often plan interactive activities and educational workshops on mental health and well-being. On our events calendar, look for information regarding events such as Wellness Wednesdays, Bell Let’s Talk Day, and Beyond the Blues.
Students can access non-perishable food items at campus food banks and breakfast options through breakfast clubs. A limited number of prepaid grocery cards are also available for those in need.
Terrace Campus
Terrace Food Bank is located in the Health and Wellness Centre (Waap Amgam/House of Cedar). For access, please connect with Marina Bell during business hours at Waap Amgam (House of Cedar) or via studentengagement@coastmountaincollege.ca.
The Breakfast Club is available on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m at Waap Sa'mn (House of Spruce) Atrium.
Prepaid grocery cards can be requested at the Financial Aid office located in Waap Sa'mn (House of Spruce).
Prince Rupert Campus
Prince Rupert Food Bank can be accessed by contacting Karen Buchanan in office 210 or by emailing studentengagement@coastmountaincollege.ca.
The Breakfast Club is available Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room. Students are encouraged to bring their own utensils and dishes.
Prepaid grocery cards are available through Prince Rupert Reception.
Smithers Campus
Smithers Food Bank can be accessed by contacting Inge Tersago in office 103A or emailing studentengagement@coastmountaincollege.ca.
Breakfast items are available in the student kitchen and are refreshed every Tuesday and Thursday.
Prepaid grocery cards are available through Smithers Reception.
Hazelton Campus
Hazelton Food Bank can be accessed by contacting Kellie Nyce at FNAC@coastmountaincollege.ca or 250-635-6511 ext. 5508.
The Health and Wellness Centre now offers pharmaceutical services to students, including contraception, emergency contraception, and prescriptions for minor ailments. Services are available to all students through in-person or virtual appointments.
On-campus care is provided for select minor ailments.
Students also have access to several virtual health options, available seven days a week:

Student engagement coordinators and officers organize fun activities at each of our campuses so that you can connect and network with your peers and classmates. They can also tell you more about opportunities for volunteering with the Leaders in Action Program.
