Heavy Mechanical Instructor

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a continuing Instructor for the Heavy Mechanical Foundation program. The appointment will commence as soon as possible. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale and range between $71,846 and $92,922 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The Instructor facilitates learning, and is responsible for ensuring student success in the Heavy Mechanical Foundation Program.  This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required to teach the program.

Qualifications

Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET) or Truck and Transport Mechanic (TTM) with a Journeyperson Certification with the Red Seal (Interprovincial) endorsement and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years’ varied and recent field experience as a HDET or TTM Journeyperson. A Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
