Health Program Instructor- Terrace and Smithers

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace and Smithers campus, invites applications for a full-time Instructor in the Health programs as outlined below. This is a great opportunity for an someone who has a passion for what they do and wishes to support and influence the next generation of nurses/health care workers. The appointment will commence January 2, 2025. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale (range: $2,752.72 to $3,560.23 biweekly).

Duties The instructor will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the programs listed below. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the program courses, which include theory and lab, and clinical.  

  • Health Care Assistant (HCA)
  • Access to Practical Nursing (APN)
  • Practical Nursing (PN)

Qualifications

  • A current practicing license as an LPN or RN with BCCNM
  • 3 – 5 years of recent and relevant practice experience including clinical experience
  • Applicants with one of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution will be preferred. Those with credentials in progress must have an identified completion date.
    • Master’s in Adult Education
    • Provincial Instructor’s Diploma
    • Provincial Teaching Certificate
  • Clinical-site requirements such as CPRC, First Aid, up-to-date vaccinations (including COVID vaccination), etc. or able and willing to complete all clinical-site requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students in a post-secondary setting
