Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a full-time continuing Director of Finance, commencing as soon as possible. The salary for this position is $158,958 annually plus a comprehensive benefits plan.

Duties: The Director of Finance safeguards the assets of the College and collaborates with senior leadership,
union representatives, and stakeholders to drive fiscal accountability and innovation. This role ensures
effective financial planning, management, and compliance in alignment with institutional goals and
regulatory requirements.

Key components of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic financial leadership and oversight to achieve institutional missions and goals.
  • Budget planning and management in a multi-campus, multi-union post-secondary environment to ensure financial responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Timely financial reporting, compliance, and oversight.
  • Risk assessment, management, and mitigation.
  • Policy development, implementation and maintenance.
  • Organizational leadership and development
  • Community engagement and relationship building

Qualifications

Professional accounting designation (CPA) membership in good standing with the relevant British Columbia institute. Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior financial or accounting position. Expertise in areas of budgeting, contract management and procurement, policy analysis/development, and financial reporting/analysis. Demonstrated track record of management and administrative experience, preferably in both the public and private sectors. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills, abilities, and knowledge includes:

  • Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods,
    techniques, and standards including federal and provincial financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems (i.e. Colleague) used in financial and/or accounting applications.
  • Knowledge of software to compile, quantify and illustrate complex financial reports,
    comparisons, impacts, and/or projections
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and implement new strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or
    projections.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work
    assignments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Effective time management skills to handle dynamic, and frequently changing priorities.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
