Substitute Instructors - Business Administration Program (Terrace)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campuses, invites applications for non-regular, on-call substitute Instructor(s) in our Business Administration (BADM) program. The positions will commence as soon as possible and end August 31, 2025 on an on-call basis, as required. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.

Duties:  The substitute instructors will provide back-up relief in the absence of regular instructors. The instructors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the BADM program. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Business (MBA preferred) or a closely related discipline (Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources). Additional post-secondary education and training in teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma) is preferred.

  • Experience teaching with distributed learning formats as well as knowledge with relevant technologies (i.e.: office 365, Brightspace, video/web conferencing, learning management systems, and online resources) is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners of all ages
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset

The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience with business topics. Experience should demonstrate excellent technology skills, group facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills. A commitment to student success is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
