College Professor(s)- Arts (Part Time)- Prince Rupert

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for part time College Instructor(s) for the winter semester as outlined below (subject to minimum enrolment).  Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructor Scale: (range: $5,775.84 - $9,255.50 per section).

Duties: The College Professors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the courses listed below.

Winter Semester (December 23, 2024 – May 2, 2025)

  • GEOG 226: Regional Geography of Canada (1 section) (scheduled for evening)
  • HIST 106: Canada Since Mid-19th Century (1 section)
  • POLI 102: Canadian Politics and Government (1 section) (scheduled for evening)
  • SOCI 102: Introductory Sociology II (1 section)
  • SOCI 205: Sociology of the Family (1 section) (scheduled for evening)

Qualifications

A minimum of both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline along with teaching experience at the post-secondary level.  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience with experiential teaching formats.

Required attributes/experience includes:

  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based teaching with the ability to inspire and motivate learners
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary practices to promote and respect equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, learning and professional contexts
  • Demonstrated excellence with intercultural competence, particularly in regards to local Indigenous communities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
