Instructor (50% Temporary) - Early Childhood Care & Education (Prince Rupert)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for 50% temporary Instructor in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program. The appointment will commence August 26, 2024 and end August 25, 2025 (subject to minimum enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructional Scale (range: $1,353.58 - $2,169.04 biweekly) plus a comprehensive benefit plan.

Duties:  The instructors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the ECCE program. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. Courses will be delivered in a combination of face-to-face and distributed learning (online).

Qualifications

A minimum of both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in the field of Early Childhood Education or a related discipline along with early learning experience and teaching experience at the post-secondary level in the area of early learning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary practices to promote and respect equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, learning and professional contexts
  • Demonstrated excellence with intercultural competence, particularly in regards to local Indigenous communities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students in a post-secondary setting
