Instructor(s) - Computer Applications (Smithers)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Smithers campus, invites applications for an on-call Instructor(s) to teach Computer Applications courses as outlined below. The appointment(s) will commence September 1, 2024 and end March 31, 2025 (subject to minimum enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale: (range: $37.55 - $53.81 per hour).

Duties:  The Instructor will facilitate learning and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required to teach the program.

Courses include:

  • Word Essentials (6 instructional hours)
  • Word Expert (6 instructional hours each)
  • Excel Essentials (6 instructional hours)
  • Excel Expert (6 instructional hours)
  • Outlook Essentials (6 instructional hours)
  • Powerpoint Essentials (6 instructional hours)

Note: Please identify which course(s) you are interested in teaching.

Qualifications

A diploma (Bachelor degree preferred) in Business, Office Administration, or a related field along with 3 years of experience in an Office Administration position. A Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience in Business or Office Administration are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary practices to promote and respect equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, learning and professional contexts
  • Demonstrated excellence with intercultural competence, particularly in regards to local Indigenous communities
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge and skills (MS Office, email, internet)
