Jennifer is a Registered Nurse with a Canadian Nurses Association specialization in Gerontology. Originally, she studied General Nursing at BCIT and then added a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor and Master of Nursing (Advanced Practice) degrees, all from University of Victoria. Her advanced practice area is in community palliative care.
She started instructing at Coast Mountain College in 2018 in the Health Care Assistant and Access to Practical Nursing programs and then for the Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing.
“I am absolutely devoted to this work and to these students. It's very rewarding to participate in their learning and it's an honour to be a part of their transformations. To help students succeed, I like to get to know each person's story so that I can help by giving group, as well as personalized instruction and support.”
Jennifer enjoys traveling in the region, where she usually goes to Hunt’s Inlet on Porcher Island, near Prince Rupert. “It’s wildly stormy in winter and has big dark star-filled skies in the summer.” When she travels out of the region she is usually in Singapore to visit her daughter.
“A not-particularly-well-known fact that may be surprising to some of you is that most days I get up very early so I can spend time writing fiction and creative non-fiction stories.”
