Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a continuing full-time Payroll Coordinator commencing as soon as possible. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff salary scale, Level 17: $3,196.90 biweekly plus a comprehensive benefits plan.

Duties: Lead and supervise the Payroll Department to provide complete payroll processing services for CMTN. The Payroll Coordinator assists with resolution of outstanding HR/Payroll issues and with interpretations of the collective agreements to ensure continuity of HR/Payroll procedures and practices. Duties include:
- Ensures timely and accurate management of all payroll functions; ensure proper payment on a timely basis of salaries/wages, pay deductions, benefits, and other related amounts in accordance with established procedures, authorization levels, the collective agreements, and provincial/federal legislation
- Reconciles deduction amounts with payroll register and general ledger and authorizes payments of payroll payable accounts, pension plan, unions, Revenue Canada CPP, EI, Income Tax, and others
- Hires, evaluates, and provides appropriate training and professional development for payroll staff
- Develops, implements, and audits internal financial and payroll controls to ensure compliance with established accounting practices. Identifies and reports discrepancies and errors and provides corrective recommendations. Implements agreed resolutions.
- Serve as the College’s representative in the operation and implementation of the Colleague HR/Payroll system, and on payroll committees with other Colleague institutions. Researches and implements payroll efficiencies and workflow in consultation with a task force representative of the college community and service providers.
- Acts as an internal resource to employees and departmental managers in regard to payroll matters, pay advices, timesheets, etc.
- Advise and assist HR Director, HR Manager, and Manager of Labour Relations with interpretations and implementation of Collective Agreements
- Other related duties as assigned
