Health Care program- Instructor (Terrace)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a term Instructor(s) in the Health Care Assistant Programs as outlined below. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale ranging from $36.46 to $47.15 per hour.

This position is well suited for an individual with a passion for caring for people in need of health care who is interested in sharing their skills and experience to influence the next generation of nurses and health care assistants.

Duties:  This position will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students by teaching the following HCAS courses from the indicated campuses, in face-to-face and online settings.

March 17, 2025– September 5, 2025 (subject to minimum enrolment)

  • HCAS 1071: Healing 3: Personal Care & Assistance (Lab)
  • HCAS 1081: Practice Experience in Multi-Level and/or Complex Care

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications require current registration as an LPN, RN, or RPN in British Columbia, along with a demonstrated experience in teaching adult learners. This could include completion of a Provincial Instructors Diploma, equivalent education, or prior teaching roles supported by satisfactory references, positive evaluations, or student feedback.

Applicants must have at least 2 years of full-time nursing experience, with strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, healthcare team dynamics, and current policies across residential, acute care, and community settings. Preferred experience includes working with older adults with complex health needs, as well as familiarity with home support, multi-level/complex care, and acute care environments.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and proficiency with technology. Additionally, strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills are essential.
