Colin Elliott is the Coast Mountain College Dean of Business, Access Education & the IT Diploma. He is the point person for business programs, adult upgrading, accessible education The Information Technology Systems and Networking Diploma Program. Colin joined Coast Mountain College in 2018 as the Director of Applied Research, Libraries, & Emerging Technologies before moving to various Dean roles since 2020. He has 12 years of academic library experience at Athabasca University, where he worked in every aspect of the library including digitization, information literacy, and on course development teams.  Colin’s work is based on partnership and collaboration including internal, local and regional partners.  He has also been actively engaged in the higher education community both internally and externally, sitting on committees and participating in planning and governance. Areas of particular interest are Indigenization, Open Educational Resources, and Applied Research.  He has co-authored a book chapter and several academic articles.  He was also the recipient of multiple scholarships and awards as a graduate student and as a research partner in projects in open and mobile learning.  Prior to Athabasca, he spent 4 ½ years teaching English in Japan. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UNBC, an MA from Athabasca University and an MLIS from the University of Alberta.
