Four Coast Mountain College alumni will join other women carvers from the Northwest Coast for an exhibition at the Audain Art Museum in Whistler, BC titled CURVE! Women Carvers on the Northwest Coast. Arlene Ness, Cherish Alexander, Stephanie Anderson, and Veronica Waechter are displaying pieces alongside other iconic female carvers, including Ellen Neel, Freda Diesing, and Doreen Jensen, in the upcoming show.
Longtime staff member Emilia McConville recounts her 35 years of life at Coast Mountain College's Prince Rupert Campus, as well as her early years. Emilia retired in 2024.
Coast Mountain College Technical Writing Class with instructor Simon Thompson worked with local community organizations on their grant-writing class project. Students Meena Devi, Carol-Ann Bourdon, and Kayla Abram wrote a successful grant application on behalf of Foundry Terrace to purchase paddleboards, lifejackets, and other needed accessories for local youth to try paddleboarding.
The Rising Star Program matches Coast Mountain College students with Prince Rupert District Chamber of Commerce members who have volunteered to become mentors. Mentors and the Chamber introduce students to the local world of business. Students who complete the program are awarded a $500 Rising Star Bursary.
