Applied Technical Communication and Workplace Math - WTCS Curriculum Developer

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Smithers, Prince Rupert, Terrace or Haida Gwaii campus, invites applications for a non-regular term position to design and develop curriculum for a Workforce Training Course, Applied Technical Communication and Workplace Math (45 hours, 3 credits). The term will commence June 15, 2026 and end July 15, 2026. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale ($37.55 - $53.80 per hour).

Duties: The Curriculum Developer is responsible for producing a complete course package that includes a course outline with detailed learning outcomes, grade profile, and evaluation tools (formative and/or summative), an annotated list of recommended resources, PowerPoint presentations and learner activities, and lesson plans aligned to the 45-hour course (3 credits) structure. The end product should be professional. Total hours of appointment will be 135 hours.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Organizational Development. A Provincial Instructor's Diploma or other relevant teaching certification is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning principles
  • Proven experience developing engaging, evidence-based training materials for workplace or professional development audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to create content suitable for delivery within a learning management system such as D2L/Brightspace
  • Subject-matter knowledge in one or more of the following areas: conflict resolution and workplace communications, time management and productivity, and/or critical incident stress management and trauma-informed practice
  • Skilled in designing practical, learner-centered activities and assessments that reflect real-world application
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, accurately, and collaboratively within a team environment, meeting deliverable deadlines while incorporating feedback into course materials
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and document design skills
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and enthusiasm for contemporary practices that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across diverse learner backgrounds and workplace learning contexts
  • Advanced computer skills and digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and LMS tools
