Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace Campus, invites applications for a full-time continuing Instructor position in the Health Programs as outlined below. The appointment will commence on September 1, 2026. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale ranging from $37.55 - $53.80 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits plan.

Duties: The instructor will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the programs listed below. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the program courses, which include theory and lab, and clinical.  

  • Health Care Assistant (HCA)
  • Access to Practical Nursing (APN)
  • Practical Nursing (PN)

Qualifications

Qualifications:  A current practicing license as an LPN or RN with BCCNM

  • 3 – 5 years of recent and relevant practice experience including clinical experience
    • Completion of, or working towards, one of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution (those in progress must have an identified completion date):
      • Master’s in Adult Education
      • Provincial Instructor’s Diploma
      • Provincial Teaching Certificate
  • Clinical-site requirements such as CPRC, First Aid, up-to-date vaccinations (including COVID vaccination), etc. or willingness to obtain the requirements (prior to clinical placements)
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students in a post-secondary setting
