To operate a vehicle equipped with air brakes on a highway (public road), you need a B.C. driver's license with an air brake endorsement. This course includes 22 hours of theory and practical instruction on air brakes systems. Upon successful completion of a pre-trip inspection, students receive credit for the pre-trip (for 90 days) towards the Motor Vehicle Branch Air Endorsement Examination.

For those who intend to become a Class 1 licensed commercial driver, you may need to complete B.C.'s new Class 1 MELT course, which includes an airbrake endorsement. Participants must have a valid Class 7 or Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no outstanding charges.
