Coast Mountain College Photography Contest Guidelines

Contest Requirements:

1. Photographs should be in digital format with a minimum size of 800px on the long edge and a maximum file size of 5MB.
2. The photographs should be sent via email and must include the photographer's name, student number, and the photo title.
3. Entrants must be current students of Coast Mountain College.
4. Photographs should fit into one of three categories:
   • Nature: Photographs of natural things, wildlife, or the environment.
   • People: Photographs of one or more people.
   • Place: Photographs of buildings or other human-influenced locations.

4. Photographs must be taken on a Coast Mountain College campus or in the local area near a CMTN campus.
5. The submitted image must be a single work of original material created and taken solely by the photo contest participant.
6. The photograph must not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and by submitting the photo, you certify that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.
7. Submissions must be submitted on or before Friday, January 17 to communications@coastmountaincollege.ca.

The following photographs will be disqualified:

1. Photographs that have been previously submitted or have won any local or international photography contest.
2. Photographs that violate any person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright and privacy.
3. Photographs that contain obscene, sexually explicit, offensive or any other objectionable or inappropriate content.
4. Images that have been excessively digitally enhanced or altered in any way.
   • Images should be processed to reflect the natural setting where they were photographed as much as possible.
   • Excessive enhancement or manipulation includes, but is not limited to, over- or under-saturation, selective colour, special effects, colourizing, half-toning, collages, photo composites, stacked high dynamic range (HDR) images, photoshopping to add or remove elements or change the composition, sky replacement, any use of Adobe neural filters, excessive film grain, etc.
5. Any image that was generated in whole or in part by any AI application.

By submitting your photo to the competition, you grant Coast Mountain College and its representatives and agents a non-exclusive, unlimited, and royalty-free right and licence to use, publish, display, produce, perform, convert, adapt, publicly present, communicate to the public, assign, sub-license, edit, modify, translate, reproduce, post, broadcast or otherwise use my entry and/or components thereof in whole or in part, in any way and in any form of media now known or hereafter developed, including and without limitation, in any of Coast Mountain College’s advertising, marketing or publicity, without review, notice, approval or compensation.
