Terrace, BC -- Coast Mountain College would like to congratulate Callan Williamson, LPN and instructor in the Health Care program, on receiving the Terrace Fire Chief’s Commendation for his heroic actions during a motor vehicle accident on Highway 16 this past summer. Callan played a pivotal role in managing the scene, providing first aid, and ensuring the safety of all involved.
Callan, along with Emma Shack and Aman Kang, was on the way to CMTN Galt’s ap Day 2024 in Hazelton at the time of the accident; they were one of the first vehicles at the scene. The accident was a traumatic event for many CMTN staff on the road that morning as no one knew if perhaps someone from the College had been involved. Fortunately, no one was, and everyone involved in the accident survived.
Callan says “I would like to share this award with Aman Kang and Emma Shack, who assisted me in managing the scene. Aman was instrumental in managing traffic and keeping us safe until the RCMP arrived and Emma was amazing at keeping people at the site calm and making sure we had what we needed to render first aid.” Callan also notes that Dr. Fourie of Terrace was instrumental in providing care on scene that day.
Callan’s swift and composed actions were recognized by the Terrace Fire Department, BC Ambulance, and RCMP as critical in managing the situation. We are proud to have such dedicated and courageous staff members as part of the CMTN community.
