Terrace, BC – Approximately 100 students and 20 employers participated in Coast Mountain College’s (CMTN) recent career fair on March 19. There was something for everyone, with representatives from industries including finance, construction, law enforcement, social services, health, mining, environmental consulting, and more.
Students had the opportunity to inquire about career paths and opportunities in Northwest BC, and to practice valuable skills such as networking and self-promotion. In advance of the event, the Work-Integrated Learning team provided a resume workshop to help students prepare.
Heather Bastin, Executive Director, External Relations says, “Creating opportunities for CMTN students to connect with employers in our communities is so important to us at CMTN. “I am hoping that this will happen again next year!”
Employers were impressed by the students who came prepared, asked good questions, and engaged with them, and all said they would like to attend this event again next year. Some comments from the employer feedback survey included:
“Thank you for the invitation to connect with your students. Well worth the time!”
