  • Coast Mountain College Receives Multi-Year Funding from SkilledTradesBC for Indigenous People in Trades Training

    Coast Mountain College (CMTN) is a recipient of a multi-year grant through SkilledTradesBC’s Indigenous People Trades Training Programs (IPTT). The grant, valued at $573,422, will be distributed over two-years and will support the Cook’s Helper Program in the communities of Gitxaala, Old Masset, and Kispiox (Anspayaxw).

  • Coast Mountain College Engineering and Physical Sciences Department Hosts Solar Home Competition

    On Saturday, June 8th, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Department at Coast Mountain College hosted a competition to see which model home design could retain the most solar heat over a period of time. Projects were submitted by nine groups submitted projects, which included community members, Caledonia Secondary School physics students, and CMTN students and instructors.

Two groups of students designed, programmed, and built an automated claw that would close around an object as it approached the floor and could transport the object over a makeshift wall.
