Terrace and Smithers, BC – In the week before International Women's Day (March 8) our campuses held two lunchtime events celebrating the achievements, leadership, and resilience of women in our communities. Students, staff, and community members came together to hear from guest speakers, share a light lunch, and learn about local organizations and businesses that support women.
A heartfelt thank-you to our inspiring speakers who shared their stories and insights. On the Terrace campus guest speakers were Jaimie Davis and Sarah Zimmerman, with the territory welcome shared by Sharon Bryant and David Wells. For the Smithers campus, guest speakers were Sarah Weber and Susie Hooper.
The Smithers campus would also like to thank the Tri-River Métis Association for sponsoring lunch and the Bulkley Valley Credit Union for sponsoring the refreshments and roses. The roses were sold for $5 each with a total of $195 raised and donated to The Northern Society for Domestic Peace at the end of the event.
If you attended or supported one of our International Women’s Day events, we're so glad you joined us. Your presence fills these gatherings with conversation, learning, and celebration!
