Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace Campus, invites applications for two full-time continuing Senior Systems Administrators commencing as soon as possible.  A flexible schedule is required as some evening and weekend work may be required. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff Scale, Level 17 ($3,103.80 biweekly plus full benefits).

Duties:  The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for core administration, implementation, development and support of current and future technologies implemented by the CMTN IT Department. This role participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with institutional goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Tasks will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with peers at other BC PSIs and BCNET to align CMTN IT standards, knowledge share, integrate solutions and increase collaboration
  • Work with CMTN IT staff and partner with a broad base of vendor and government technical teams to ensure that CMTN infrastructure and supported line-of-business (LoB) applications meet organizational and project objectives while adhering to architectural and testing standards and established methodologies
  • Responsible for up time, monitoring, reliability, BCP/DR, stability and maintenance of CMTN supported systems as well as continual assessment of the quality and effectiveness of CMTN infrastructure, monitoring and alarming
  • Responsible for handling vendor relationships, contracts, budget and SLAs
  • Test systems platform performance and analyzes trends to provide statistics, metrics and reports; develop strategies for optimizing systems infrastructure
  • Develop project plans, budget and feasibility studies for various infrastructure projects, upgrades, improvements, expansions and equipment refreshes
  • Provide timely tier 2 and tier 3 support, analysis and resolution for CMTN technology infrastructure related issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

A recognized diploma (degree preferred) focused on Computer Science / Information Technology (IT) (or equivalent experience); industry recognized systems certification, including but not limited to; MCSE, MCSA, MCITP; and 10 years of relevant senior experience in the IT Industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proven skills and experience with combination of the following must be demonstrated:

  • Extensive Microsoft Windows Server experience including MS Exchange, and MS SQL
  • Advanced Active Directory and Group Policy administration, in a multi domain environment
  • Strong knowledge of HyperV virtualized environments
  • Extensive Microsoft Windows Server experience including Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, InTune, MS Exchange, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Strong experience with Microsoft cloud technologies including Microsoft 365, Azure, and InTune
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN), Nimble, and HPE StoreOnce
  • Familiar with Cisco networking equipment and network skills including VLAN, layer 2&3 routing architecture and firewalls, including Meraki, Brocade, and Fortinet
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Excels in a high-pressure and fast paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
