Description
The Indigenous Health Department of Northern Health and the First Nations Health Authority, Northern Region, have donated two awards valued at $1000 each to Indigenous students studying at Coast Mountain College in a health or health-related discipline.
The donors are dedicated to their work with the Northern First Nations Health Partnership Committee and as such, provide these awards to illustrate their commitment to implementing the Northern First Nations Health and Wellness Plan, and their wish to support individuals who are also interested in this goal. Successful applicants of the Northern First Nations Health Partnership Committee Health and Wellness Award will be invited to a reception with the donors to celebrate their achievement.
Criteria
To be eligible a student must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee, and BC resident, and be registered in a health or health-related discipline including, but not limited to, fields such as:
- Health Sciences/Community Health
- Medical Office Assistant and/or Health Administration
- Dental-related programs
- Nursing
- Pre-Medical and Medical programs
- Social Work
- Mental Health & Addictions
- Other health-related disciplines
Additionally, a student must self-declare Indigenous descent, and provide a letter outlining their future plan for their studies that reflects the mandate of both Northern Health and the First Nations Health Authority to enhance the health and well-being of Indigenous Peoples.
Academic merit and financial need will also be considered.
