MFA Setup Guide

Step 1

When signing in to your Microsoft account, enter your email address and password, then click “Next” or “Sign in.”

You will see the prompt shown below. Click “Next.”

A prompt will appear instructing you to install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone or device if it is not already installed.

 On your phone:  

  • If you are using an Apple (iOS) device, open the App Store, search for “Microsoft Authenticator”, and install the app.
  • If you are using an Android device, open the Google Play Store, search for “Microsoft Authenticator” and install the app.

 After installing the Microsoft Authenticator app, return to your browser and click “Next” twice.

Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and select “Scan QR code.” You may be prompted to grant permission for the app to access your phone’s camera, select “Allow.” Once permission is granted, use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on your browser screen.

Important: Do not sign in to the Microsoft Authenticator app or manually add a work or school account. Simply open the app and use the Scan QR Code option to scan the QR code displayed on your screen.

After scanning the QR code, your account will be successfully registered in the Authenticator app and it should appear as shown below.

On the browser screen, click “Next.”

Enter the 6-digit code from your Microsoft Authenticator app in the field shown below.

After clicking “Next”, the system will verify the code. Once verified successfully, a confirmation message will appear, and the Microsoft Authentic ator app will be registered as a sign-in method for your account.
