Basic First Aid

This WorkSafeBC course equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations. The training covers key first aid procedures, including injury assessment, CPR, and emergency response techniques.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the priority action approach for injury assessment and care.
  • Manage soft tissue injuries and wounds, including dressing, cleansing, and determining medical referral needs.
  • Assess and respond to breathing and airway emergencies, including the use of CPR and an AED.
  • Recognize and manage common medical emergencies, such as anaphylaxis, strokes, seizures, and diabetic emergencies.
  • Make informed decisions on transport methods and provide accurate first aid records, in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations.

Practical scenarios and a written exam are included to assess competency in a variety of emergency situations.

Students will receive certification valid for 3 years upon successful completion of the course.

100% attendance is mandatory. Students more than 15 minutes late are not admitted to class. No refunds will be issued to students who arrive late.
