Basic Security Training

The Basic Security Training (BST) Certificate is designed to meet the needs of persons interested in entering the growing field of security. It will provide students with the basic training, theory and understanding of the applicable laws and regulations necessary to write the competency examination issued by Justice Institute of BC (JIBC).

  • Applying Legal Rights and Responsibilities
  • Note Taking
  • Report Writing
  • Use of Force
  • Tactical Communication
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Personal Safety

Upon successful completion, you will receive a 3-year license.

*Note: This is an intense program that requires extensive reading and commitment to overall success. This course includes approximately 25 hours of homework.

  • 19 years of age or older
  • Minimum Grade 10 Reading and Comprehension
  • Good working knowledge of the English language
  • No criminal record (criminal record check will be completed in class)
