Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a full-time continuing Maintenance Skilled Worker/5th Class Power Engineer position commencing October 12, 2026. This position requires availability for evening and weekend standby and call-out work; call-outs will be fully compensated in accordance with the collective agreement, and a night shift premium will apply during after-hours call-outs. Some travel to other CMTN campuses may be required. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff, Level 14: $2,852.50 biweekly plus a comprehensive benefits plan.

Duties: Reporting to the Facilities Foreman, the Maintenance Skilled Worker/5th Class Power Engineer performs maintenance, repairs, and power engineering duties across campus buildings, grounds, and equipment. The successful candidate will ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant with all applicable regulations and standards.
Key components of the role may include, but are not limited to:
- Establish, monitor, and carry out preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for buildings, equipment, and grounds; ensure all facilities meet safety, security, and fire regulations; maintain up-to-date testing logs for emergency lighting and fire extinguishers for Fire Department inspections
- Maintain up-to-date boiler maintenance logs as per Technical Safety BC requirements; utilize DDC system for heating adjustments and troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair building systems and major equipment including boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and ancillary heating and hot water equipment; respond to emergency situations such as floods or power outages
- Perform carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical, and plumbing maintenance including drywall repair, furniture repair, fixture replacement, and finishing work; source and procure maintenance materials as directed by the Foreman
- Perform winter maintenance including snow removal using heavy equipment; clean external areas including entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots; perform groundskeeping tasks including mowing, weeding, pruning, and landscaping
- Operate truck and trailer to load, move, and transport furniture, equipment, and supplies around campus or to other locations; climb and work from ladders for roof repairs and overhead inside work
- Serve as the primary after-hours point of contact for CMTN contractors at the Terrace campus, making timely decisions to ensure customer satisfaction, comfort, and safety
- May be required to travel to and work at Kitimat, Hazelton, Smithers, Houston, and Prince Rupert campuses as directed by the Facilities Foreman or Facilities Director
