Duties: Reporting to the AVP, Corporate Services, the Asset Coordinator is responsible for coordinating fleet operations and performing or arranging preventative and corrective maintenance on a diverse inventory of vehicles, heavy equipment, trailers, and small engine equipment. This hands-on role combines mechanical expertise, fleet management, contractor coordination, regulatory compliance, and asset planning to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across College campuses and community program locations.
An illustrative sample of key responsibilities include:
- Support fleet operations by scheduling and maintaining vehicles and equipment, prioritizing maintenance activities, administering vehicle bookings and fuel programs, monitoring driver eligibility, and tracking fleet utilization to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain fleet and asset records, support regulatory compliance, oversee asset lifecycle activities including replacement and disposal, and provide input for fleet and equipment capital planning.
- Obtain quotes, prepare specifications, engage suppliers and contractors, verify completed work, and process required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and safety standards, including WorkSafeBC, Transport Canada, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE), ICBC, and Technical Safety BC requirements.
- Operate transport trucks, forklifts, and other equipment to transport materials, equipment, and program trailers.
- Participate in occupational health and safety initiatives and serve as a backup First Aid Attendant when required.
