Dean – Centre For Community Workforce Development

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for a full-time Dean – Centre for Community Workforce Development (CCWD).  Salary will be in accordance with the Management Salary Grid, Level 15: $162,922 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The Dean provides strategic and academic leadership to advance innovative, high-quality programming that supports student success, workforce development, and community impact. Working across academic, industry, and community sectors, the Dean drives program growth, continuous improvement, and evidence-informed decision-making to ensure programs remain relevant and responsive to regional needs.

The Dean also leads the institution's business development strategy, including market analysis, client acquisition, partnership expansion, and the development of new educational and training opportunities. Through strong collaboration with Indigenous communities, employers, government, unions, and other CMTN departments, the Dean strengthens relationships that enhance learner outcomes and advance the College's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide strategic leadership for CCWD through planning, innovation, and alignment with institutional priorities and regional workforce needs.
• Ensure programming is responsive, high-quality, and financially sustainable while advancing revenue growth and community impact.
• Lead business development, partnership development, client engagement, and market expansion initiatives.
• Oversee the design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of non-credit, micro-credential, and customized training programs.
• Lead and develop faculty, staff, and business development teams within a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture.
• Provide financial stewardship through budgeting, forecasting, revenue generation, contract management, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate across the College and provide strategic advice and reporting to support institutional goals and initiatives.
• Represent the College on internal and external committees, councils, and community, industry, and workforce development forums.

Qualifications/Skills:   

• A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), or Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field;
• Five to seven years of progressive leadership experience in workforce development, continuing education, or related sectors;
• Demonstrated success in business development, partnership building, and revenue generation;
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and forecasting;
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, drive strategic initiatives, and work with unions;
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building abilities;
• Excellent written, verbal and cross-cultural communication skills;
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, including team-building skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in mitigating the barriers and challenges faced by at-risk and Indigenous students in accessing post-secondary education;
• Demonstrated ability to support others in achieving a common goal and establishing a positive work environment; and
• Familiar with experiential, place-based education is an asset.
